51 – Clayton Beach

With backpack loaded up with books, beach blanket and food, our goal was to spend the afternoon on the beach – reading, picnicking and relaxing in the sun, so with only a 1-1/2 mile of trail too and from our destination, this barely felt like a hike.

And what a lovely trail it was!

Not uncommon to pass young toddlers running toward the beach, barefoot teens and ladies in lovely summer dresses, once one of the best-kept local secrets, now part of Larrabee State Park, Clayton Beach is a popular location.

With a comfortable breeze coming from Chuckanut Bay and bright sunshine above, this hike truly felt more like a vacation.
